My Name is RobLvD and i am a linux user sinds 2008.
My residence is Friesland in the Netherlands.
I merely used Ubuntu on my regular machine, but have tried a handful of other distro’ s.
i am not very technical but like to play with distro’s.
On at least 4 laptops of friends and family i installed ubuntu, and they all love it.
Right now i am using Debian 12 on my regular laptop
I am still learning and that is what i like.
The Linux Handbook i follow for a few years now, and i hope to find or give help when nessesary .
I use Linux on and off since 2004. But, not regularly and extensively. I know Linux a little bit and intend to learn more and more. I am familiar, rather aware of all the majorly popular distros.
At work exposure to Linux is very minimal. I pursue it more as a hobby and in my own time.
I am following Linux Handbook for at least few years now.
Country of origin/residence: United States of America
What do you do?: I’m a retiree - previously provided Internet Support for Subscribers
Linux users since?: Late 1990s
Do you use Linux at work?: I no longer work. The company I worked for didn’t support GNU/Linux
How long have you been following Linux Handbook?: A few years
What do you expect from the forum?: I want all my experiences to contribute to my learning, including when I offer help to others. I’m no GNU/Linux Guru, so I want what I read to be correct. I expect to be treated as I intend to treat others, with respect, first and foremost. If I come off differently than that, I hope others will let me know, so I can make appropriate adjustments.
Hi, Abhishek,
Thank you very much for the invitation
My name is Jorge Augusto, I’m Portuguese and I’m an electronics technician.
I think the first time I saw Linux was in the late 90s. In the early 2000s, I started using Mandrake and then, between 2006 and 2010, I used Debian. I returned to Windows and, in 2018, I returned to Linux, now Linux Mint and, with the help of the It’s FOSS Community, I continue to learn on a daily basis to remain a loyal Linux user.
How long have you been following Linux Handbook?
That’s an answer you’ll have to tell me yourself, I have no idea.
What do you expect from the forum?
Above all, that it has the same spirit of mutual help as It’s FOSS Community, and continues to try to help and learn from the community.
I started using Mandrake in the late '90s too. Their demise taught me to avoid corporately-based/developed distributions ever since. Mandrake felt like a home, until it didn’t, but that’s past history . It’s nice to see a fellow former Manrak-er here,
